Over the next few days, my colleagues and I will be running a series of professional development workshops for teachers in the region. We started today with a Design Thinking workshop, and then this afternoon we heard from Laura Mitchell from Preston High School and Paul Taylor from Hazel Glen College. They discussed the ways in which their schools have implemented Design Thinking for inquiry- and project-based learning and how they overcome different curriculum implementation challenges. Thanks to all the teachers who joined us for the sessions and networking lunch, and to Laura and Paul for sharing their experiences with us.
We are looking forward to welcoming more teachers over the coming days as well as some community and industry participants. We will be running more Design Thinking workshops and some tech-based sessions where we will introduce participants to coding, 3D modelling and digital design. I am particularly excited to lead an Adobe Illustrator workshop where participants will have the option to design and laser cut their own Christmas decorations or jewellery.
